Second Teaser, Netflix Announcement, and Anime Footage

Every Episode Arrives on November 26
Netflix will release the entire series at once on November 26 rather than using a weekly rollout.
The episode count and total runtime are still being kept under wraps.
The announcement narrows the broader 2026 window revealed when the adaptation debuted at Annecy International Animation Film Festival earlier this year.
The Second Teaser Pushes the Suspense Further
The new teaser shows Yomiko confronting Toshiro about his desire for Transfloration, alongside explosions, flames, a severed hand, and bloodied vines emerging from his body.
Akira, Saeko, and Jin also make appearances, while the closing moments tease a mysterious figure surrounded by tentacle-like shapes.
The footage places greater emphasis on the thriller and body-horror elements beneath Fool Night's human drama.
Three More Cast Members Join
Junya Enoki voices Akira Yatsuka, the ambitious and highly rational Human Resources Deputy Director at Transflora Facility 4.
Aya Endo plays Saeko Kanaeno, a former border soldier who now serves as Akira's bodyguard. Kiyomitsu Mizuuchi voices Jin Hiragishi, head of the unaffiliated Nashi-ka unit who recognizes Toshiro's unusual ability and hires him.
They join Koki Uchiyama as Toshiro and Minako Kotobuki as Yomiko.
Humanity Survives by Turning People Into Plants
For roughly a century, thick clouds have blocked sunlight from reaching Earth. Plants have largely died off, leaving humanity in an oxygen crisis.
The solution is Transfloration, a technology that turns humans into oxygen-producing Spiriflora.
Driven by poverty, Toshiro chooses the procedure and unexpectedly gains the ability to hear the transformed plants—pulling him deeper into the institution that controls the process.
SUNRISE and SHAFT Work Together for the First Time
Fool Night marks the first anime collaboration between SUNRISE and SHAFT.
Atsushi Yukawa directs, Jin Tanaka handles series composition, Robert Sato designs the characters, and Tatsuya Kato composes the music.
The production is also using artificial light, cold architecture, gritty cityscapes, and vividly organic Spiriflora to translate Kasumi Yasuda's monochrome manga world into animation.
Why This Matters
1) The complete season arrives immediately
The batch-release format allows viewers to follow the mystery continuously, although Netflix has not yet disclosed how many episodes make up the series.
2) Transfloration is a social dilemma, not simply a sci-fi device
The technology keeps humanity alive by asking human beings to surrender their bodies and future, tying survival directly to poverty and personal choice.
3) SUNRISE × SHAFT is an unprecedented studio pairing
The two studios have very different visual histories, and Fool Night is the first project to formally bring them together as an animation-production team.
