Five Features Highlighted by ATLUS
The New Features trailer focuses on five changes affecting combat, daily events, and audio presentation.
1) Fully voiced events
Persona 4 Revival uses newly recorded voice work throughout the game.
The main story has been re-recorded, while Social Link scenes and numerous newly added events also feature voice acting.
ATLUS has not stated that every optional line in the game will be voiced, but its official website specifically confirms voice work for Social Links and new events.
2) Send Flying
A normal attack against a Shadow affected by a status ailment can cause the enemy to fly backward.
If it collides with another Shadow, the impact deals damage and passes the same ailment to the second target.
The mechanic is designed for encounters containing multiple enemies and gives status effects an additional tactical use.
Its Japanese name is ふっとばし.
3) New music and remixes
Persona 4 Revival does not rely exclusively on the original soundtrack.
Ryota Kozuka of the ATLUS Sound Team is responsible for the remake's music, combining remixed Persona 4 tracks with completely new compositions.
Shiori Sasaki joins the project as the new lead vocalist.
ATLUS has not yet revealed the complete track list or soundtrack album details.
4) Baton Pass
When a character earns a 1 MORE, the extra action can be handed to another party member with Baton Pass.
This allows a different character to target another enemy weakness and helps maintain a chain of knockdowns before an All-Out Attack.
The Japanese version calls the mechanic バトンタッチ.
5) Prime Time
Prime Time is one of Persona 4 Revival's largest new battle mechanics.
Once its gauge is full, activating it begins a series of consecutive actions with several advantages:
- skills have no cost
- enemy resistances are ignored
- Baton Pass can be used freely
- party members can continue chaining actions
- the sequence ends with a powerful Series Finale
The Japanese version uses ボコスカラッシュ for Prime Time and ボコスカフィニッシュ for its finishing attack.
The difference is a localization choice rather than a separate mechanic.
Guard Action and Additional Events Are Also New
The five trailer highlights do not represent every change already confirmed for Persona 4 Revival.
The official website also introduces Guard Action. Successfully blocking a Shadow attack can stun the enemy, opening an opportunity for a first strike or allowing the player to avoid combat.
New seasonal scenes and additional character events are also being introduced.
Inaba itself has been rebuilt with modern graphics, including its skies, rivers, rainy streets, environments, UI, battles, and cutscenes.
ATLUS says the original story line remains intact while the overall game experience has been extensively refreshed.
Combat Still Revolves Around Weaknesses and 1 MORE
The familiar Persona 4 combat foundation remains in place.
Exploiting an enemy weakness knocks it down and grants 1 MORE. Knocking down the complete enemy group creates an opportunity for an All-Out Attack.
Players can also obtain Personas after battle and fuse them inside the Velvet Room.
Baton Pass, Send Flying, Guard Action, and Prime Time expand that existing framework rather than replacing it.
Prime Time in particular gives players a powerful offensive window against enemies whose resistances would otherwise limit their options.
Returning to Inaba and the Midnight Channel
Persona 4 Revival follows a high-school student who moves to the rural town of Inaba.
Shortly afterward, the town is shaken by a series of kidnappings and murders while rumors spread about a strange phenomenon known as the Midnight Channel.
According to the rumor, staring at a switched-off television on a rainy night may reveal a mysterious person on its screen.
The protagonist and his friends form the Investigation Team and eventually discover another world inside television sets, filled with dangerous Shadows.
Outside those investigations, players live as ordinary students, studying, joining activities, working, spending time with friends, and developing Social Links.
Those daily choices contribute directly to the protagonist's growth and the Personas available to him.
Launching February 18, 2027
Persona 4 Revival officially launches on February 18, 2027 for:
- PlayStation 5
- Xbox Series X|S
- Windows
- Steam
- Xbox Game Pass
ATLUS' Japanese and Asian websites both use February 18. Steam may display February 17 in certain regions because of regional unlock times.
Physical copies are currently limited to PlayStation 5, while the Xbox, Windows, and Steam editions are digital.
Pre-orders include the P3R & P5R Extra BGM Set, adding six tracks from Persona 3 Reload and Persona 5 Royal that can be selected as in-game music.
Digital Standard, Deluxe, and Premium editions are available, while PS5 also receives physical limited editions.
Why This Matters
1) This is more than a visual remake
ATLUS is introducing several battle mechanics that were not part of the original Persona 4 experience.
2) Prime Time significantly changes battle tempo
Free skills, ignored resistances, and unrestricted Baton Passes create a powerful offensive phase once the gauge is ready.
3) Social Links receive more presentation
New voice recording gives Inaba's everyday relationships a stronger audio presence instead of relying primarily on text.
4) Familiar music is joined by new material
Ryota Kozuka is preserving the Persona 4 musical identity through remixes while adding new compositions with Shiori Sasaki on vocals.
