Akumana, the series formally titled Akutou Ikka no Manamusume, Tenseisaki mo Otome Game no Gokudou Reijou deshita., is officially receiving a TV anime adaptation. The fantasy romance is written by Touko Amekawa, also known for 7th Time Loop.
TO Books confirmed the television format on July 29, 2026, after previously announcing only that an anime project was in development. On August 19, Amekawa once again shared the news with Japanese and international readers, referring to the series in English as “Akumana (Mafia Dating Sim).”

A Yakuza Boss's Granddaughter Gets Reincarnated Into Another Crime Family
Akumana's heroine already knew organized crime before reincarnation. In her previous life, she grew up as the beloved granddaughter of a yakuza boss, a background that made an ordinary social life difficult.
After reincarnation, she becomes Francesca, the daughter of a mafia family inside a romantic game world she remembers from her previous life.
The kingdom is quietly supported by five major families, putting Francesca right back in the kind of criminal environment she hoped she had left behind.
With knowledge of the game, her plan is to avoid its central plot, stay away from the coming mafia war, and finally enjoy a peaceful life.
The game's scenario has other plans.
Leonardo Is Exactly the Villain Francesca Wants to Avoid
When the main story begins, Francesca is pulled into the orbit of Leonardo, a young mafia leader who is also her fiancé.
From Francesca's knowledge of the game, Leonardo is not merely another attractive romance character. He is one of the central villains tied closely to the scenario's most dangerous developments.
Their relationship begins badly enough: he abducts her.
Francesca, however, has courage and instincts shaped by her previous upbringing in a yakuza family. Her ability to handle danger does not drive Leonardo away—it makes him even more interested.
When he offers to become her “friend,” Francesca is delighted because genuine friendship is something she has always wanted.
Leonardo's intentions are considerably less platonic.
That misunderstanding becomes part of a broader mix of romance, mafia politics, dangerous game scenarios, and Francesca's attempts to rewrite the dead ends she already knows are coming.
The TV Format Is Confirmed, but Production Details Remain Secret
Akumana had already been described as having an anime project in development before July 2026.
On July 29, TO Books finally clarified that the adaptation would specifically be a television anime.
Touko Amekawa returned to the announcement on August 19, sharing the confirmation again through her official X account for both domestic and international followers.
For now, however, that TV format is almost the entirety of the anime-specific information.
No animation studio, director, series composer, character designer, music staff, or production committee has been announced.
There is also no release window, episode count, anime teaser PV, or dedicated anime trailer yet.
The Drama CD Cast Should Not Be Treated as the Anime Cast
Akumana already expanded into drama CDs before the television adaptation was confirmed.
Those releases gave Francesca, Leonardo, and other characters established voices within one version of the franchise.
The TV anime cast has not been announced, however.
Existing drama CD performers should therefore not automatically be listed as returning anime cast members unless the future production announcement confirms them.
The same distinction applies to artwork. LINO and Sora Goto are central to the current visual identity of the novels and manga, but the anime's own character designer has not been revealed.
Both the Novels and Manga Have Reached Volume 6
TO Books began commercially publishing the light novel series on May 10, 2023.
As of August 1, 2026, the novels have reached Volume 6, with the latest book featuring illustrations by LINO and character originals by Sora Goto.
Sora Goto also handles the manga adaptation, which is serialized through Corona EX.
Its collected edition likewise reached Volume 6 on August 1, giving both versions of the series six published volumes at the time of the anime announcement.
TO Books reports that the franchise has surpassed 450,000 copies in cumulative circulation across print and digital editions.
That number is a circulation milestone rather than a claim of 450,000 confirmed consumer sell-through.
“Akumana” Is Already Used for International Readers
Touko Amekawa actively uses #akumana as the series' Roman-alphabet hashtag when communicating with readers outside Japan.
Her English-language posts introducing translated manga editions have also used “Reincarnated in a Mafia Dating Sim” as a convenient description of the series.
That does not yet mean the phrase is the television anime's official English title.
Until an international anime title is formally announced, Akumana and the Romanized Japanese title remain the safest identifiers for the adaptation.
International streaming plans have not been announced either.
Why This Matters
1) Francesca is being thrown into organized crime for a second life
She is not an ordinary protagonist suddenly learning how criminal families work. Her previous yakuza upbringing directly informs how she handles the mafia world after reincarnation.
2) Game knowledge does not automatically solve the story
Francesca knows Leonardo is dangerous and understands the original scenario, but her own actions change how the characters respond to her.
3) The romance is built on a very specific misunderstanding
Leonardo approaches her with romantic intentions while Francesca is thrilled because she believes she has finally made a real friend.
4) Nearly every major anime detail is still waiting to be revealed
The TV format is confirmed, but the studio, cast, staff, anime visuals, trailer, broadcast schedule, and distribution remain open questions.
