Cyan Heart is now available on PC through Steam, built around one of the more unusual camera systems in recent horror games: most exploration is viewed through a camera that remains pointed at protagonist Sara herself.
Instead of giving players a conventional first- or third-person view, the path directly in front of Sara remains outside the frame. Players must read the environment behind her, check the lower part of the image, use the CSZ8x2 device, and guide her deeper into an abandoned facility.

Trailer, Steam, and Selfie-Cam Gameplay

Horror Built Around Not Seeing What Is Ahead
Cyan Heart's defining mechanic is not a specific monster but the information deliberately withheld from the player. When Sara moves forward, the camera remains pointed toward her rather than showing the path directly.
Players must judge positions through the background, Sara's feet, framing changes, and moments when the camera can face outward for interaction. Even entering a room or turning a corner can therefore become part of the tension.
A World Overtaken by Cyan
Cyan Heart's world once relied on Magenta Heart, an energy capable of continuously reproducing physical phenomena.
After changing into Cyan, the energy became unstable and started affecting physical objects, machines and living beings. Sara enters an abandoned facility rumored to contain something capable of stopping its spread.
Sara's Camera Is Also Part of the Story
Sara carries the CSZ8x2, a multifunction device used for recording, communications, logs and environmental interaction.
Shoei Sio explains that the selfie perspective always needed a narrative reason. Why Sara continues recording herself under these circumstances is one of the mysteries intentionally left for players to discover inside the game.
Shoei Sio Deliberately Chose Discomfort
In a development retrospective, Shoei Sio says Cyan Heart was never designed to appeal to everyone. Guidance is limited, and players cannot normally see where they are walking.
The developer describes the game as something of an antithesis to increasingly user-friendly modern design. GameSpark's hands-on feature also notes visual influences previously associated with the creator, including serial experiments lain and Mouthwashing*.
Nintendo Switch Version Is Still Planned
The Steam edition is already available, while WakuWaku Games continues to list Nintendo Switch as another planned platform.
Its price and rating have not been announced. On PC, a free demo remains available for players who want to try the unusual camera system first.
Why This Matters
1) The camera is part of the narrative
The reason Sara keeps filming herself is directly connected to the game's mystery.
2) Fear comes from restricted information
The game creates tension not by constantly showing danger, but by refusing to show what is directly ahead.
3) The world and mechanics share the same concept
Cyan is not only lore; its behavior also influences hazards, puzzles and the functioning of the abandoned facility.

Closing
Cyan Heart builds horror from one simple restriction: the player is denied the freedom to look directly where Sara is walking. A camera that would normally provide information instead becomes the source of uncertainty.
The PC version is available through Steam and its demo remains playable. Shoei Sio is also preparing a Nintendo Switch version, although a specific release date for that platform has not been announced.
