Motion Controllers Become Cheer Pom-Poms
CHEEKY CHEERHYTHM is built around more than tapping buttons to a music chart.
Players hold two motion controllers equipped with gyro sensors, using one in each hand and moving them as if they were cheerleading pom-poms.
Following the rhythm therefore requires physical arm and body movement, giving the rhythm mechanics a fitness component.
Promotional specifications recommend Joy-Con or Joy-Con 2. The game itself is launching for Steam on PC, while a complete list of officially supported motion controllers has not yet been published.
Drama scenes take place between rhythm sessions and develop the training storyline involving Sensei and Iroha.
Coaching Iroha Shishikura
The central character is Iroha Shishikura, a highly confident high-school student who frequently teases the people around her.

She begins without cheerleading experience. As her Sensei, the player is tasked with developing her talent and producing strong performances to help restore the school sports clubs’ results.
Asanagi is responsible for Iroha’s character design and original artwork, while Hinata Yuka provides her Japanese voice.
Iroha responds throughout the training sessions even when the player performs accurately rather than only reacting to mistakes.
More than 600 newly recorded voice-line variations are being prepared, giving her in-game commentary a larger pool of responses.
Live2D Changes with Player Performance
Iroha is animated with real-time Live2D during gameplay.
The presentation is linked to the player’s performance rather than functioning only as a fixed looping animation. Her movement changes according to rhythm accuracy.
This creates a direct connection between the physical input and the character animation displayed on screen.
The currently released screenshots also include prototype rhythm-game footage, meaning the interface, visual effects, and animation may still change before the 2027 launch.
Steam currently lists the game as a single-player title.
Five Languages Are Already Listed
The Steam store page currently supports interface text and subtitles in:
- English
- Japanese
- Simplified Chinese
- Traditional Chinese
- Korean
Japanese is the only language currently listed with full audio.
The minimum PC requirements include Windows 10 64-bit, an Intel Core i7 processor, 8 GB of RAM, DirectX 11, and approximately 1 GB of available storage.
More detailed recommended specifications have not yet been provided.
Playable at Tokyo Game Show 2026
CHEEKY CHEERHYTHM will also appear at Tokyo Game Show 2026, running from September 17 through September 21 at Makuhari Messe.
Yabukaradoo will exhibit the game in the Indie Game Corner at Turnkey Booth 09-C10.
Visitors will be able to play a development build, with each session expected to last approximately 10 minutes. A limited TGS novelty item is also planned for participants according to the booth announcement.
Tokyo Game Show is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2026 and is expanding to five days for the first time.
September 17 and 18 are business days, followed by public days from September 19 through September 21.
Why This Matters
1) Rhythm gameplay requires physical movement
The dual gyro-controller setup turns rhythm inputs into arm movements resembling actual cheerleading motions.
2) Player accuracy affects the character presentation
Live2D is connected to gameplay performance rather than being limited to dialogue scenes.
3) More than 600 voice lines are being prepared
A large recording pool is intended to provide variety in Iroha’s reactions throughout repeated training sessions.
4) Players can try it before release
Tokyo Game Show provides an early opportunity to experience the motion controls well before its planned 2027 Steam launch.
