Second PV, Broadcast Announcement, and Key Visual

Fran and Master Head for the Floating Island
After building her reputation as an adventurer in Alessa, Fran continues pursuing a goal deeply connected to her Black Cat heritage: evolution.
Master wants to help her reach it, and the pair initially set the port town of Daz as their next destination. Their route changes when they discover a mysterious Floating Island in the sky.
There they meet Jean Doobie, a high-ranking necromancer voiced by Yuma Uchida. Jean can create armies from corpses and has been researching undead magic.
His work leads him toward the Floating Island's dungeon. Fran and Master accept his request and join the expedition, only to discover a labyrinth overrun by undead monsters.
What begins as another dungeon expedition quickly becomes one of the largest supernatural threats Fran and Master have encountered together.
Lich Takes Center Stage in the Second PV
The second PV offers a much clearer look at the scale of Season 2's action, with Fran fighting through large groups of undead while combining her own skills with Master's support.
At the center of that threat is Lich, voiced by Sho Hayami. He serves as the dungeon master of the underground labyrinth beneath the Floating Island.
As an undead king, Lich commands numerous undead creatures and can draw on an enormous supply of magic for necromancy and other powerful abilities.
The first key visual places that confrontation front and center, showing Fran and Master facing Lich amid the dungeon's hostile atmosphere.
The PV also includes new shots of the mysterious Nameless, voiced by Shiori Izawa. Official promotion specifically hints at a connection between Nameless and the secrets hidden on the Floating Island, but the nature of that link remains undisclosed.
FZMZ Performs the Opening “DREAM OF BUTTERFLY”
The new PV features “DREAM OF BUTTERFLY”, the Season 2 opening theme performed by FZMZ.
FZMZ describes the song as drawing on the paradox of the “butterfly dream,” using the question of whether one's identity before or after reincarnation represents the true self.
That concept naturally overlaps with the premise of Reincarnated as a Sword, where Master himself came from the modern world before being reborn as an intelligent weapon.
The ending theme will be “Baribari Buddy” by HANABIE.
While the second PV showcases the opening, the ending has been previewed through a newly released television commercial. HANABIE. describes the song as one made to accompany Fran and Master's continuing adventure.
C2C and the Core Staff Return
C2C returns as the animation studio after producing the first season.
Shinji Ishihira is back as director, with Takahiro Nagano handling series composition and scripts. Atsuko Saito serves as character designer, while Kazunobu Shimizu is assistant director.
Shinya Asanuma handles Master's design, while Tomoaki Sakurai, Junpei Mukai, and SHOTA YANO are credited for monster design and modeling.
Rino Isago, Satoshi Sakai, and Shunya Nitta serve as action directors. Yasuharu Takanashi of Team-MAX returns for the music, with Shoji Hata as sound director.
The continuity in the core team keeps Season 2 connected to the visual and action language of the original adaptation, even as the new PV moves the story toward much larger undead battles.
ABEMA Streams Each Episode One Week Early
ABEMA begins streaming on September 30 at 24:30 JST, one week ahead of the terrestrial television broadcast.
TOKYO MX begins on October 7 at 24:00 JST, with ABC TV following the same night at 26:15.
BS Asahi starts on October 9 at 23:00 JST, while AT-X begins at 21:00 JST that evening.
These are the currently confirmed Japanese schedules. International streaming services outside ABEMA have not yet been announced in the latest update.
The total episode count also remains unconfirmed.
Season 1 Gets Several Rewatch Opportunities
Japanese viewers will have multiple ways to revisit the first season before the sequel's television premiere.
AT-X is scheduling a complete Season 1 marathon on October 4 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. JST.
A theatrical screening of the entire first season is also planned for October 10 at Tachikawa Cinema City as part of the Monthly Ani-All program, with further details still to come.
Ahead of those events, Episodes 1–3 of Season 2 received an advance screening at Tachikawa Cinema City on August 16, 2026, with Shinichiro Miki, Ai Kakuma, and Yuma Uchida scheduled for the accompanying stage event.
GC Novels will also hold its 12th-anniversary anime program on August 23 through ABEMA, with Miki and Kakuma appearing to revisit Season 1 and discuss the new season.
Why This Matters
1) Season 2 finally has a firm premiere date
The sequel was previously locked only to October 2026. It now has an October 7 TV premiere, with ABEMA starting even earlier.
2) The Floating Island dramatically raises the scale
Fran and Master are no longer facing isolated monsters alone. The new dungeon introduces an undead army and a powerful necromantic dungeon master.
3) Nameless adds a mystery behind the action
The PV deliberately connects Nameless to the Floating Island without revealing what that relationship actually means.
4) The two theme songs bring very different energy
FZMZ ties the opening to identity and reincarnation, while HANABIE. approaches the ending as a high-energy companion to Fran and Master's journey.
